Gurukul Sangeetalaya is a dedicated institute for the teaching and promotion of Indian Classical and Semi-Classical music, offering training in both vocal and instrumental disciplines. The institute also provides Voice Culture training to help students develop strong and expressive singing abilities.
Founded over a decade ago by Dr. Debranjan Giri and Dr. Sweta Chakraborty, both Doctorates in Music from Banaras Hindu University (BHU), the institute was established with a vision to encourage, preserve, and promote the rich heritage of Hindustani classical music.
Both founders are accomplished performers and teachers who share a deep passion for music education. Their musical training is strongly influenced by the Benares Gharana and Gwalior Gharana, and they draw inspiration from legendary maestros such as Pandit Balwant Rao Bhatt ‘Bhavrang’ and Pandit Omkarnath Thakur, who made invaluable contributions to Hindustani music.
The goal of Gurukul Sangeetalaya is to carry forward this rich cultural legacy and spread the knowledge and love for classical music to future generations.
At Gurukul Sangeetalaya, we believe that music is not just a subject but a lifelong journey of discipline, creativity, and self-expression. Our teaching follows the traditional Guru–Shishya Parampara, where knowledge is shared with dedication, patience, and personal guidance.
